Crystalline Trinket Dish

Stoneware clay moulded into 100% vitrified & stable ceramic, glazed in recycled wood ash glaze. The molecules in the mixture are positively & negatively charged, when the flux pulls them together as it drips down the pottery in their kiln firing, it creates a nucleus and from that nucleus grows life. A crystal. 

The flaw here is an aesthetic one. After applying a clear coat of glaze over the crystalline layer, the final result was this textural almost magma glaze in a rich sand colour on the exterior. Equally beautiful but not the intention of creation. A small hairline crack on the base as shown in image above but this does not affect functionality as the crack does not come through to the inside of the dish and the glaze only further solidifies its structure.
